Kedarnath is a town in Rudraprayag in the state of Uttarakhand in India and has famous  due to the Kedarnath Temple. It is around 86 kilometers from Rudraprayag. It is a Nagar panchayat in the Rudraprayag distric. Kedarnath is the most remote of the four Chota Char Dham journey . It is situated in the Himalayas, around 3,583 m (11,755 ft) above ocean level close to the Chorabari Glacier, which is the source of the Mandakini waterway. The town is flanked by snow-covered tops, most unmistakably the Kedarnath Mountain. The closest street head is at Gaurikund around 16 km away. The town experienced broad obliteration during June 2013 from the Flash Floods brought about by heavy rains in Uttarakhand state.

GAURIKUND

Gaurikund is the initiation point of the trip of 16 kms to the consecrated sanctuary of Kedarnath. It is located at a height of 1,982 mts above ocean level. The spot is named after Goddess Parvati, spouse of Lord Shiva and a temple Gauri is likewise located here.

CHORABARI TAL

Chorabari tal is a beautiful small lake, crystal clear water. This lake is located about 3km from Kedarnath. Chorabari tal is also known as Gandhi Sarover. Chorabari tal is located on the mout of glacier name chorabri bamak. In 1948, some of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed in the lake after which it was renamed Gandhi Sarovar.

BHAIRAV TEMPLE

Bhairavnath Temple or Bhairon Baba Mandir is located south of the Kedarnath Temple on the eastern hil of the elevated Himalayas of Uttarakhand. The temple is devoted to the hindu deity lord Bharav, who is supposedly the main gana of shiva, the hindu god of Destruction.

located at 3,135 meters, the perfectly clear blue-water pool of Vasuki is around 8 km from Kedarnath. It is a difficult trip and includes going across glacial masses, but the walk among the untouched Himalayas is worth of effort.

How To Visit Kedarnath Char Dham??

jolly Grant airport on Rishikesh-Dehradun road is the nearest airport to Kedarnath. You can book a taxi to Gaurikund or till Haridwar/Rishikesh.

Trains from Delhi to Haridwar and Dehradun are available at all times of the year. You can book a cab or get a bus .

Gaurikun you can choose buses and taxis from important destinations like Rishikesh, Dehradun, Uttarkashi and Tehri, Pauri and Chamoli.
